Restore and rejuvenate your roof

Repainting the roof of a building can completely transform how it looks. If you are considering investing in an exterior makeover, we recommend starting with the roof and giving it a spruce up before moving onto external walls.

The fresh look of newly repainted walls can highlight a faded, old roof, regardless of whether it is tiled or metal.

If done correctly, a roof should only need repainting every 7-10 years, depending on your location. Roofs on buildings close to the coast or those that are exposed to a large amount of debris from trees may need repainting more often.

Eco Coating Systems offers roof and render packages, as well as roof and repaint packages to give your home a complete cosmetic makeover.

Membrane paints – our roof paint of choice

All types of roof tiles can generally be painted with the same topcoat system with a different primer for each tile type. Our team can guide you through the options for roof tile coating and provide a recommendation that suits your budget and desired appearance.

We use and recommend Australian made and owned Shieldcoat membrane paint systems for superior performance on all roof types. Membranes are premium quality, flexible acrylic paints that last longer and have a thicker film than standard paints.

Repainting roof tiles

Cement, terracotta and slate roof tiles can all be painted with a variety of finishing options to suit the property.

Our professional team will conduct an assessment of the roof to check the condition of tiles, ridge capping, pointing and rectify with a licensed roof tiler if necessary. Broken or cracked tiles can easily be replaced.

The correct preparation is required for a professional roof spray paint. This includes pressure cleaning with non-toxic, chlorine-free algaecide products to sterilise and prepare the surface for the coating system. This also kills off any lichen or mould spores.

Restoring and repainting metal roofs

Looking after a metal roof is important for longevity and to keep it looking great regardless of whether your building is a home or a commercial property. The team at Eco Coating Systems is experienced at carrying out inspections of metal roofs as well as identifying and rectifying issues.

Some of the most common issues with older metal roofs are corrosion, rusted or damaged roof screws, degraded O-rings and seal deterioration. We replace damaged screws and reseal around ridge caps and flashing prior to repainting.

Eco Coating System uses marine-grade, anti-corrosive primer on all metal roofs which offers excellent long term resistance to corrosion and rust, as well as helping with adhesion.

5 tips for choosing a roof paint colour

  1. Consider the colour scheme for the entire property – break it down into colours for walls, gutters, fascia and roof.
  2. Also consider colours of other elements such as fencing, driveways and paths.
  3. Keep the roof colour neutral – you’ll be surprised at how much it stands out if the colour is inconsistent with the overall look and feel of the property
  4. Choose no more than three colours in your property colour scheme
  5. Be aware that colours on a colour chart can appear lighter than the final appearance on your roof so we recommend testing a sample on part of your roof before deciding.
